miu miu DIY. returns.

Miu Miu mania, some may say madness, was caused by the Spring/Summer collection, as the blogosphere was buzzing with DIY'S and heaps of  creativity as we attempted to recreate the look. I took on a simple cat brooch, and a pair of swallow adorned gold wedges, which recieved the most page views of all time.
Now Miuccia is back for the Autumn/Winter with some of the most lust worthy pieces once more. I absolutely adore the shot of Hanneli in her vintage print trousers and mint green collar, and the endless editorials filled with pieces from the collection. I also can't get enough of the square toed shoes complete with bows and metal flowers ...( kind of wish more had higher heels), felted structural dresses, and of course the bow neck collars.
So good news....the navy blue miu miu collar in the previous post is actually my latest D.I.Y project .... I have been super excited about sharing it with you.
The hardest part was choosing 1. the right material 2. what colour to make 3. working out which style/size to make each component.  I admit it took about 6 hours, concentration, and much patience... but I am a stupid perfectionist when it comes to sewing. Here goes......

taaaaa dahhhhh.... the completed article. Katie.x Will you be attempting it?xxx

Joanna Hillman.

 Be bold in stripes.
Pair t-shirts and dresses with striking jewellery or statement jackets for effortless glamour.
Have fun with leopard print to bring texture or pattern to a look.
Joanna Hillman-Senior Fashion Market Editor, Harper's Bazaar US.  Incredible style, total babe, and always showcasing the most hip designers and cool concoctions. Her photographed outfits consist of unexpected creations from some of my very favourite designers. 3.1 Philip Lim, Proenza Schouler, Dries Van Noten, Alexander Wang, Mawi, J-brand, Yves Saint Laurent, Marni, Chanel to name a few. She always looks immaculate, and effortless rolled in to one (if this is possible?) I kind of wish she was featured more, although the mystery keeps on intriguing me. Harpers.. if you are out there- I'd love to read an  interview with her? Can you imagine what treasures lurk in her closet? Katie.x

City exploring- Palma.

Needs no introduction.
Up close with Mary Katrantzou- bejewelled.
 Raf Simons Aviators, awesome.
Bimba Y Lola- loved the segmented pouch bag!
 Zara.
 Picture perfect 'Bomboneria'
Kind of wishing I hadn't resisted.....
Incredible interiors shop- every home needs a wall mounted unicorn head.

Alongside Barcelona, London, Stockholm and of course Paris... Palma is one of my favourite cities to visit. After many years of visiting I feel confident and comfortable when exploring it's streets, and forever discovering the little gems this place has to offer. It was sad to see one of my 'must- visit' interior stores clearly struggling with the impact of the recession, but I was over the moon to visit the treasure of a store 'Rialto Living', that possessed as much charm as ever. ( a post dedicated to that place coming right up!)

mist surrounded the magic.

Proof that magic really is all around us. A trip to Gresgarth Hall a few weeks ago. The heavens opened and I got completely soaked... being practical just doesn't work for me.

This place is open just once a month, for a few months a year, and seriously if you were ever in its vicinity (Caton, Lancaster) worth the trip.
I spent the afternoon there dreaming up photoshoots and suitable outfits, and wondering why the grounds hadn't been used for a fashion magazine editorial before?!

Arabella Lennox-Boyd, a garden designer, and gold medal winner at Chelsea owns the house. ( strictly out of bounds but I'm sure the interior is just as breathtaking!)
The gardens are full of roses, poppies, individual rooms, a huge lake, amazing seating, mosaics, and the stunning oriental bridge.
The blue flower- a Meconopsis poppy from the Himalayas- stunning, and one of the very few naturally blue flowers!
Less of a fashion post, but I hope still enjoyable- I have included an outfit shot for any one wondering....

night to day to night.

I have a certain affinity with clothing that provides a seamless transition between the night and day. Reading about T by Alexander Wang and the slouchy laidback feel that could be worn both in and out of bed.
No matter where I look, I find myself drawn back to A.Wang and the simple lines and wearable pieces he almost effortlessly provides from season after season. The resort collection is the latest example of this- basic colours, clean lines and mixed up proportions.
As the temperatures have been creeping up I keep on reaching for the loosest items that fall into the questionable category of top/ shirt or dress? It seems to work.
( suede jacket- H&M, shirt dress H&M, rings- various)
PS- can you see the heart in the last photo- that's a huge thankyou to all of you!xx Katie.x
