2010 in outfits.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year.

Thankyou for spending 2010 with me here on Fashionclocked.

Goodbye to one of my toughest years ever- fighting illness and never quite knowing what each month would bring. Im almost better- just continuing a battle with what has become ME and the insane tiredness, and frustration it brings.

Creating this post really brought home to me how far I have come, from such a fragile state to almost back to feeling like myself. Its unbelievable how writing a blog has given me focus, a sense of achievement and something to work towards each week. I cant thank you enough.

Sending good health, wealth, fortune and amazing purchases to all of you in 2011.

pretty military.

I was waiting for a gloriously sunny day like yesterday to pick out this delicate lilac Topshop number, and the palest pink suede wedges.( a little Sonia Rykiel in style?) To lessen the sickly sweet vibe I paired them with this lightweight khaki shirt/jacket. 
My all time 'loves' summed up are all things oversized, and the contrasts of loose and tight, delicate and grungy, feminine and masculine... having fun with a beautiful-ugly style...

I also look fairly awful in bright colours and so this sorbet palette of late is kind to me!

miu miu meow HOW TO.

If the last Miu Miu 'how to didn't tickle your fancy... perhaps this one will... maybe even easier and very inexpensive to create! 
Here are a few simple steps I took to make my D.I.Y miu meow- (feel free to drag the picture, enlarge print and away you go!)
MIU MIU HOW TO CAT BROOCH 10 SIMPLE STEPS.
1.use previous miu miu magic post for inspiration and close ups!
2.draw cat- a clear black outline is important for the next stage.
3.trace cat drawing in pencil on reverse of paper- i used a 4B LEAD.
4.Place paper drawing black outline facing up- pencil face down against card.
5.Take biro and press down firmly as you draw over original outline- this     transfers the pencil to the card.
6.Cut out using sharp scissors or scalpel- whatever you prefer or have to hand
7.Make duplicate of head shape (looks more like the real thing!)
8.cut whiskers eyes and nose out of black card- attach with pritt stick
9.Laminate complete cat- cut out and attach large safety pin with tape et voila!

10.Your very own Miu Meow   (miu miu made this brooch in pink or white!)

1970's Glasses 

I also thought I would share with you these incredible vintage glasses with mirrored lenses, and pink clear frames. Once I added plaited hair and D.I.Y miu miu's  to the mix, I would hope my intentions, or should i say attempts, were clear! 

With the slightly saddening knowledge that I will never own a part of their 2010 s/s collection I can only try to create a similar assortment with existing pieces from the wardrobe. The concealer applied to the lips is certainly a strange sensation.

MIU MIU MANIA 

Miu Miu Spring/Summer has been filling my dreams of late.  The playful qualities of  Miuccia Prada’s latest collection add a sense of fun, and appeal to everyones inner child, while the crystals, and beautiful tailoring add sophistication.

Along with many others, I am crazy about the prints, the plaits, the 1960’s styling.

I loved Chloe Sevingy on the cover of Elle, Karen Gillan featured in Grazia,Lindsay Wixon working the adverising, and every editorial that features pieces. I have been raiding the internet for as many pictures I can find to drool over, and share with you- enjoy and i hope it gives you some inspiration!

HOW TO MIU MIU SWALLOW SHOES.

Photographed against the sky- it really is this blue right now!

1. Raid wardrobe for unworn shoes- simple styles = easiest choice.

2. use miu miu magic post for inspiration ( I made a pattern sheet copied from the swallow clutch freehand- the swallows are pretty abstract anyway!)

3.Using a PERMANENT marker pen- start drawing swallow outlines- 

(I started with the heel) and colour in- referring to the photos or pattern sheet you have created for spacing and shape.

4.Continue over shoe- make sure birds are varied.

5.The magic should be complete!

I hope these are easy to follow, inexpensive and leave you feeling you could have a go yourself! 

I must add PATIENCE and TIME are key to a good result, although hope my steps help.

Prada Cinderella.

Prada was certainly having a cinderella moment when it sent glistening crystal concoctions down it's S/S 2010 catwalks. The perspex shoes appeared an elaborate re-incarnation of the original 'glass slipper', while the crystal droplet dress hung from the model like an extravagant chandelier. 


When Kate Moss appeared on the cover of Vogue April 2010 she looked incredibly innocent, and delicate in the creation. Marloes Horst was also photographed for style magazine weekend 11th April in the dress where again it looks so exquisitely fresh. 


I love the way the crystal catches the light, and beams the colours of it's surroundings. Today's early morning sun was just what was needed to capture the antique crystal necklace I have inherited.                          katie.x


I am almost at 100 followers!! - millions of thanks- can i make it?!

From Chloe and Celine to Alexander Mcqueen.

Such stark contrasts in collections could be seen on the S/S 10 Rtw catwalks. 


A predominantly nude colour choice at Chloe, Celine and Alexander Wang. With outlandish brights the focus at Proenza Schlouer, and Alexander McQueen.


Hannah MacGibbon at Chloe offered a boyish, partly oversized, colourless palette of beige and neutral shades. Personally it failed to inspire me.


Phoebe Philo at Celine opted for a paired down minimalist assortment in natural tones & cut leathers, with raw wood wedges, and simple scooped back hair.
A clean cut way of dressing, and a breath of fresh air for the runway.


Alexander Wang provided a sport inspired utilitarian selection. Comprised of both bodycon, and oversized pieces in khaki, grey, tan and white. All paired with knee high socks, and open-toed shoes. A personal highlight- oversized messed up fish tail plaits. (I have already been experimenting with!
I have been tracking down the navy and black Alexander Wang diego....fingers crossed.


Acid brights were injected at Proenza Schlouer, adding a sharp sting into an otherwise relaxed surf theme. 


While Alexander McQueens oustanding 'Plato's Atlantis' inspired collection featured bold colours, intricate digital patterns, incredible silhouttes, created with folded fabrics, not to mention the highly coveted 12 inch heeled shoes from another life form. 
The creations transformed the models into breath-taking reptilian-like species. 
I personally feel one of the most outstanding collections i have ever witnessed.

The princess and the plait.

How inspirational and incredible is this new Hermes advert?! Heavenly. They never fail to create the most divine selection of silk scarfs. The threaded plait is sensational. This really is the princess and the pea fairytale.

Prominant at Alexander Wang, Miu Miu, Missoni and even at Alexander McQueen. Plaited hair is surely set to be the hottest hairstyle this Spring. Personally i cant get enough of the rapunzel - length side plaits at Miu Miu, or Alexander Wangs messed up scrunchy, chunky, textural verions. Im not convinced i could plait like Missoni! ( for those of us with long locks- we are in luck!)
